Awesome company to work with
Awesome company to work with, founder is very personable and is directly accessible. They are very flexible and if you have any custom requests they will accommodate you. For our election it was a good product, easy to use.
Secure, Transparent, and Easy-to-Implement HOA Voting Solution
I especially appreciated the platform’s focus on voter verification, auditability, ballot secrecy, and compliance while still keeping the process simple and affordable for the Association to implement. In our case, setup would have required only a few minutes of effort from management or the Board.
Incredibly useful for us
Incredibly useful for us! We had a very manual process for voting before finding this product - very glad I did.
Built to survive a challenge
When a result is contested, what matters is what you can produce. Here is what you hold afterward, and what stood guard before.
After the vote
What you can produce if anyone asks
Tamper-evident audit trail
Every ballot issued, identity verified and vote recorded is timestamped in a SHA-256 hash chain. An edit after the fact shows.
Results certificate
Participation, quorum and the verification behind each ballot, on one page you can table.
Exports that cannot disagree
CSV and PDF come from one count. The spreadsheet and the report always match.
A receipt for every voter
A confirmation code for each accepted ballot, so "my vote was never counted" is checkable.

When bylaws or statute require it
Sealed-ballot mode stores the ballot with no link to the voter at all. Nobody can tie one to a member. Not the board, not vote.direct.

State-rule setup checks for California, Florida, Texas, Colorado, Arizona and Nevada, each linked to its official source. They support your review; they are not legal advice. HOA voting rules by state
A paper route when rules require one: mailed ballot packets counted in the same tally as online votes, or mailed access letters carrying private web-ballot credentials.
Need a neutral third party? vote.direct serves as independent inspector of elections in Colorado, Nevada, Florida, Texas and Arizona.
Never in California: Cal. Civ. Code §5110(b) bars a contracted vendor from serving as inspector. There, and in states we have not verified, we help you find an independent one.

Would rather not run it?
For $99 we build it: ballot, roster, notices, and a live election handed to you at open. From $199 we run a digital election end to end: reminders, voter questions, close, tally, certificate, audit package. Both cover up to 100 voters, platform fee included. Larger managed rosters are quoted.
vote.direct provides 2 staff at your meeting to run the ballot station, receive and open returns, count ballots in front of members, and announce the result. On-site staffing starts at $1,000 in addition to the managed election fee. Availability and the final quote depend on the date, location and meeting length.
In-person elections and on-site staffingVoting all year? Unlimited plans from $9 a month are on the pricing page.

Is online voting legally valid for HOAs and nonprofits?
Often, but the conditions differ by state and by your governing documents. California and Florida, for example, set detailed notice, consent, paper-choice, secrecy, and inspector rules. vote.direct supplies the verification, roster, ballot, receipt, and audit tools; software alone does not make an election compliant. Confirm the statutes, your bylaws, and the required human roles before switching.
How much does an online election cost?
One flat price per election, by the voters you invite, email verification included and SMS from the first paid tier: Free for up to 25 voters, $4.99 for 26–50 voters, $9.99 for 51–100 voters, $19.99 for 101–200 voters, $24.99 for 201–400 voters, $69.99 for 401–1,000 voters, $149.99 for 1,001–2,000 voters. Above 2,000 voters, talk to us. Government ID checks are $3.00 a voter; mailed ballot packets $6.00 each, postage both ways. Recurring votes: unlimited plans from $9/month.
How is vote.direct different from ElectionBuddy, Simply Voting, or OpaVote?
Three things. Pricing is published in full, one flat rate per election with verification included, where most alternatives price per voter, per feature, or by quote. Verification goes as far as assisted government-ID checks when the stakes demand it. And every election leaves a hash-linked audit record and a results certificate for the day someone questions the outcome. The honest trade-off is age: those platforms have run elections for far longer. Our comparison pages keep verified prices and the cases where a competitor is the better choice.
How do you limit each eligible voter to one ballot?
Each ballot is tied to one roster credential: an email, a phone number, or a private access code. Codes confirm control of the contact; assisted government-ID checks are available for higher-assurance elections. The organizer still owns roster accuracy, shared contacts, voting weights, and eligibility rules.
Do voters need to create an account or install an app?
No. Voters open a link, verify, and vote in any browser on a phone, tablet, or computer. No app, no account, no password. Each voter gets a confirmation code as a receipt.
What about members who cannot vote online?
There is a real paper route: printed ballot packets at $6.00 each, postage both ways, marked by hand and entered into the same tally as online votes, or mailed access letters carrying private web-ballot credentials. Mailings are arranged in advance and approved before they send, so plan early and confirm what your state and documents require. Text messages carry codes and invitations, not ballots, and there is no voice voting.
Can we try it before paying?
Yes. Any election of up to 25 voters costs nothing, with email verification and the audit trail included. No card required. On any election you can send yourself free email test ballots of the real thing before it goes out. Building, previewing, and saving drafts are free; larger elections pay the flat rate (from $4.99) only when you publish. Subscriptions have no timed trial: they bill when you subscribe and you can cancel anytime.
