Every number on this page is published, not quoted. You can read the whole ladder, see what 7 other platforms charge for the same election, and work out your own total without talking to anybody.

Quick answer: what association voting software costs

Association voting software on vote.direct costs $4.99 per election up to 50 voters and $79.99 up to 1,550; a fully managed election starts at $199.

VotersPrice per election
up to 50 voters$4.99$9.99
51–100 voters$9.99$19.99
101–200 voters$19.99$39.99
201–550 voters$39.99$79.99
551–1,550 voters$79.99$159.99
Above 1,550 votersQuoted

Every band includes email and SMS voter verification, delivery tracking, a vote receipt for each voter, live results, CSV and PDF export, and a tamper-evident audit trail. Above 1,550 voters the same product is priced on your roster, and the answer comes back as a number rather than as a discovery process.

One flat fee per election, charged when you publish. The band is set by how many members are eligible, not by how many vote, so turnout cannot move your bill. Building the ballot, importing the roster and previewing cost nothing.

Work out what your association would pay

Put in your unit count and how you send ballots today, and the calculator prices the paper election you are running now against the digital one, printing, postage and counting time included. It is the fastest way to get a number your treasurer will accept, because the inputs are yours rather than ours.

What 7 other platforms charge an association

Priced at 150 eligible voters, which is a common size for an association board election. Where a vendor publishes no tiers, this table says so rather than inventing one.

Platform150 votersHow they chargeVoter verification
vote.direct$19.99Flat fee per election, by band of eligible voters. No subscription required.Email and SMS included. Government ID $3.00 per checked voter.
ElectionBuddy$29Flat fee per election, by band of eligible voters. Not per voter.Email and access codes. No SMS verification, no government ID.
OpaVote$20$10 for every 125 voters, on a pay-as-you-go plan with unlimited elections.Emailed access codes only. No SMS verification, no government ID.
Simply VotingNot publishedPriced by number of eligible voters via an on-page calculator. No tiers are published.Email and access codes. No government ID published.
SurveyMonkeyNot publishedMonthly or annual subscription per user. Not an election product.None. No voter eligibility, no ballot secrecy, no audit trail.
AssociationVoting$199Flat fee per election by band of eligible voters, or an annual subscription.Email. A mailed "voter verification announcement" is a $100 add-on. No government ID.
Helios VotingFreeOpen source. Free to run, if you host and maintain it yourself.Emailed links, with end-to-end cryptographic verifiability of the tally.
Google FormsFreeFree with any Google account.None. The form owner can see how each person voted.

Every figure above was read off that company's own public pricing page on July 25, 2026. Where a vendor publishes no tiers, this table says so rather than estimating one. Vendors change prices without telling us: if something here is out of date, write to us and it gets corrected.

At 150 voters no paid platform in this table is cheaper than vote.direct. That is a statement about this size only, not about every size: at 20 voters and below several of them are free, and this page is not going to pretend otherwise. Google Forms and Helios Voting are on the table because boards really do consider them, but neither is a price comparison: one verifies nobody and shows the form owner how each person voted, and the other is free only if you host, patch and support the server yourself.

vote.direct publishes this comparison and sells one of the products in it, so read it as a vendor making its case rather than as independent research.

Or $199 to have vote.direct run the whole thing

The prices above rent you the software. These prices buy you the work: we build the ballot, load and dedupe the roster, send the notices, run the reminders, answer your members, watch quorum, close, tally and hand back a result certificate with its audit package. Nobody else in this category publishes a price for that.

ServicePriceWhat it covers
Setup & Launch$99We build the ballot, load the roster, write and send the notices, and hand you a live election.Platform flat-rate fee included, up to 100 voters. You run the election from open onward.
Full Managed Election$199Everything in Setup & Launch, then we run it: reminders, quorum, voter support, close, tally, certificate.A digital election — email and SMS ballots, no mailed packets — of up to 100 voters, platform flat-rate fee included. Give us 10 days before ballots open. Add packets below, or ask for a quote above 100 voters.
Managed + Mailed Packets$199 plus $6.00 per packetA full managed election where the members who need paper get a printed packet with a postage-paid return envelope, and their returned ballots land in the same tally.$6.00 per packet, charged on the packets actually mailed. The $6.00 covers the trip both ways: the packet out, and a return envelope that already has the postage paid on it, so the member never buys a stamp. There is no separate postage line on your invoice. A mailed ballot counts when it reaches our election address by the close date in your notice — received by, not postmarked by, so nobody has to adjudicate a smudged postmark after the count has started. We work backwards from your close date at kickoff and give you the mail-by date to print on the packet. Paper and online ballots are counted together.
Managed + Inspector of Elections$499A full managed election where vote.direct also serves as your inspector of elections — Colorado, Nevada, Florida, Texas and Arizona only. Not available in California: Cal. Civ. Code §5110(b) bars a vendor under contract to the association from serving as inspector. We will help you find an independent one instead.
Above 100 votersQuotedSame scope, priced on your roster.

$199 covers a digital election of up to 100 voters with the platform fee included, and we need 10 days before ballots open. For scale, a traditional 200-unit paper election runs $2,000–$5,000, which is the number most boards are really comparing against: paper versus digital, with the sources.

A managed election moves the work off your board, not the responsibility. Software cannot make an election legally binding and cannot guarantee that it complies with your governing documents or your state statute — your notice, your bylaws, your inspector where one is required and your counsel decide that. What we hand you is the record.

What actually changes the price

Four things move the number, and you control all four. Nothing else on an election costs extra.

What changesWhat it costsWhat that means
How many voters are eligible$4.99 to $79.99The band is set by the size of your roster, not by turnout. You pay the same whether 40% or 90% of them vote, and adding a voter inside your band costs nothing.
Government ID verification$3.00 per checked voterOptional, and charged only on the voters you actually run it for. It adds identity evidence from a third-party document check; it does not prove membership or eligibility.
Paper in the mix$3.00 per mailed access letter, or $6.00 per managed ballot packetA mailed access letter is one letter going out, so a member votes online from a code on paper. The $6.00 managed packet is a round trip: the packet out, and a return envelope with the postage already paid, so the member never buys a stamp.
Your own domain on the ballot$50.00 per electionMembers see your domain rather than ours on the link they are asked to click, which is the single cheapest thing you can do about "is this email real?".

That is the whole list. There is no per-voter fee, no setup fee on a self-serve election, no charge for a re-vote when a question has to be asked again, and no subscription to keep the record afterwards. Promotional pricing runs through August 31, 2026.

A government ID being checked against a voter record during an online election

Government ID checking is the add-on boards ask about most and need least. It is worth its price on a recall, a contested seat or a vote somebody has already threatened to challenge. On a routine annual election with an email and SMS roster you have, it usually is not, and a vendor that pushes it at you on every vote is selling you insurance rather than an election.

Three associations, priced

Same product, three rosters, three bands. Each figure below is the flat fee for the whole election.

A 150-member association: $19.99 per election

Three board seats and a dues increase on the same ballot at the annual meeting, sent by email with SMS for the members who never answer email.

  • 150 eligible voters falls inside the band priced at $19.99 (101–200 voters), so turnout cannot move the bill.
  • Email and SMS verification, receipts, live results and the audit trail are in that price. Government ID would add $3.00 for each voter you ran it on.
  • No paid platform on the table above is cheaper at this size.

A 400-unit HOA: $39.99 per election

A CC&R amendment that needs a supermajority, run over three weeks with reminders, where the board wants to watch quorum daily rather than find out at the meeting.

  • 400 eligible voters falls inside the band priced at $39.99 (201–550 voters), so turnout cannot move the bill.
  • Email and SMS verification, receipts, live results and the audit trail are in that price. Government ID would add $3.00 for each voter you ran it on.
  • No paid platform on the table above is cheaper at this size.

A 900-member union local: $79.99 per election

An officer election with candidate statements and a contract ratification, where the count has to be observable and the record has to survive a challenge.

  • 900 eligible voters falls inside the band priced at $79.99 (551–1,550 voters), so turnout cannot move the bill.
  • Email and SMS verification, receipts, live results and the audit trail are in that price. Government ID would add $3.00 for each voter you ran it on.
  • No paid platform on the table above is cheaper at this size.

Above 1,550 voters the same product is quoted on your roster, and the answer arrives as a number rather than as a discovery call. A 150-member association that runs two votes a year spends $19.99 twice, which is still less than the postage on one paper round.

how much does association voting software cost?

Association voting software costs $4.99 to $79.99 per election on vote.direct, priced on how many members are eligible to vote rather than on how many turn up: $4.99 covers up to 50 voters and $79.99 covers up to 1,550. A 150-member association pays $19.99 for a board election, which is $0.13 a member. Email and SMS voter verification are included at every size. If you would rather not run the vote at all, vote.direct runs it for you from $199.

association voting software pricing

vote.direct prices association voting software per election, not per voter and not per year: $4.99 for up to 50 voters, rising by band to $79.99 for up to 1,550, with email and SMS verification, vote receipts, live results and a tamper-evident audit trail in every band. There are three optional add-ons and nothing else: government ID verification at $3.00 per checked voter, a mailed access letter at $3.00 per letter, and your own domain on the ballot at $50.00 for the election. Above 1,550 voters the same product is quoted on your roster.

association voting software pricing comparison

At 150 eligible voters, vote.direct charges $19.99 per election, ElectionBuddy charges $29, OpaVote charges $20 and AssociationVoting charges $199; Simply Voting publishes no tiers, so nobody outside the company can state its price. Those figures were read off each vendor's own pricing page on July 25, 2026. vote.direct publishes this comparison and sells one of the products in it, so read it as a vendor making its case: at 20 voters and below several of these platforms are free and we are not, and ElectionBuddy's flat $29 band runs to 350 voters, so it undercuts us between 201 and 350.

association voting software typical cost

A typical association election on vote.direct costs between $9.99 and $39.99, because most associations that run a board election have between 51 and 550 eligible members: $9.99 covers up to 100 voters, $19.99 covers up to 200, and $39.99 covers up to 550. That is one flat fee for the whole election, charged when you publish, with no subscription underneath it and nothing to pay to keep the record afterwards.

how much does an association election cost per member?

An association election on vote.direct works out at $0.13 per member for a 150-member association and $0.10 per member for a 400-unit one, because the price is a flat band rather than a per-voter fee: the bigger the roster inside a band, the less each member costs. For comparison, the two first-class stamps it takes to mail one member a ballot and get it back cost more than that on their own.

is there free voting software for an association?

Yes, and vote.direct is not it below 20 voters: ElectionBuddy runs elections of up to 20 voters free, AssociationVoting and OpaVote are free to 25, and both Google Forms and Helios Voting are free at any size — Google Forms with no eligibility check, no ballot secrecy and no audit trail, Helios only if you host, patch and support the server yourself. What vote.direct gives away is the part before you commit: building the ballot, importing the roster and previewing are free for as long as you like, you are charged $4.99 at publish, and you can mail yourself and up to 4 other people a free test ballot first.

does association voting software require a subscription?

No — vote.direct charges a flat fee per election from $4.99 and needs no subscription at all, which matters for an association that runs one vote a year and should not be paying for the other eleven months. There is an optional subscription for boards that run several votes a year, and the per-election rate never stops being available. AssociationVoting and Simply Voting both sell annual plans as well; the difference is that ours is optional rather than the way in.

how much does a managed association election cost?

A managed association election costs $199 on vote.direct for a digital election of up to 100 voters, with the platform fee included: we build the ballot, load and dedupe the roster, draft and send the notices, run the reminders, answer the voters, watch quorum, close, tally and hand back the result certificate with its audit package. Setup and launch only is $99. Mailed ballot packets are $6.00 each on what is actually mailed, covering the round trip so there is no separate postage line. Give us 10 days before ballots open. A traditional 200-unit paper election runs $2,000–$5,000.

what does an inspector of elections cost for an association?

vote.direct charges $300 to serve as inspector of elections on top of a managed election, $499 in total, and only in Colorado, Nevada, Florida, Texas and Arizona. Never in California: Cal. Civ. Code §5110(b) bars anyone under contract to the association for compensable services from serving, and the association pays us for the platform, so the rule that protects you disqualifies us. In California we will help you find an independent inspector instead. Whoever serves, the inspector is what makes the count independent — software is not a substitute for one, and no platform can make an election legally binding or guarantee that it complies with your governing documents.
