SMS Messaging & Opt-In
vote.direct sends transactional text messages so members can verify their identity and stay informed about elections they are eligible to vote in. This page documents exactly how voters opt in, what we send, and how to manage or stop messages.
How voters opt in
There is one way to opt in: a voter enters their own mobile number on the ballot page and taps Continue to request a verification code. No number is ever texted unless the voter typed it in themselves. Below is the exact consent screen a voter sees, with the disclosure shown verbatim.
Verify to vote
Maple Ridge HOA
Use the mobile number registered with your organization. US/Canada numbers need no country code; for others start with + and the country code.
By submitting, you consent to receive a one-time verification code and election notifications by text from vote.direct. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
