These are the states where we have checked the rule. Elsewhere we have not verified that a paid platform vendor may serve, so we do not offer it.
vote.direct never serves as inspector of elections in California, because California requires an inspector independent of the vendor. The association pays us for the platform, and Cal. Civ. Code §5110(b) disqualifies anyone under contract to the association for compensable services. We will help you find an independent inspector instead.

Day 1 · Kickoff
You send the roster, the call for the vote, the ballot content and the rules that bind it — quorum threshold, voting window, who counts as eligible. One email is usually enough.
Days 2–4 · We build
We build the ballot from your notice, bylaws and candidate list, then load the roster, dedupe it and flag the addresses that are going to bounce before they bounce.
Day 5 · You proof it
You see the ballot exactly as a member will see it, plus the roster count and the dates. Nothing goes out until the board says this is the election it meant to call.
Days 6–7 · Notices
We draft the notices your governing documents and state law require and schedule them to your statutory date — not to ours. If your notice period is longer than this timeline, we start earlier.
Days 8–9 · The board votes a test ballot
We send the board a test ballot — a hidden copy of the real election — so you receive what a member receives and cast a ballot on it before a single member does. Test ballots never touch the real roster, results or tally.
Day 10 · Ballots open
From here the reminder cadence, the voter support inbox and daily quorum monitoring are ours. You get told early if quorum is not tracking, while there is still time to do something about it.

On a digital election the tally is final the moment it closes. Where packets are mailed it is final on the close date, once the returns that arrived by then have been entered. A mailed ballot counts when it reaches our election address by the close date in your notice — received by, not postmarked by, so nobody has to adjudicate a smudged postmark after the count has started. We work backwards from your close date at kickoff and give you the mail-by date to print on the packet. Either way the result certificate and the audit package come with it — the hash-linked record of what happened inside the platform, ready for your minutes.
Mailed packets need more than 10 days. Printing and delivery set that date, and we name it at kickoff rather than discovering it later.
Paper ballots that come back are counted in the same tally as the online ones, not in a separate pile.

Yes — on a full managed election from $199 the voter support inbox is vote.direct's, not your manager's. Members who cannot find the email, changed their address, or want to know whether their ballot was received write to us and we answer them. We do not advise members on how to vote or on the merits of anything on the ballot, and we tell the board when a pattern is worth knowing about — a whole building whose notices bounced, for instance.
