While it can serve as a complement or replacement for physical proxy collection, you should confirm with your co-op attorney that digital voting aligns with your specific bylaws and any applicable NY BCL requirements.
How does weighted voting work for co-ops?
You upload your shareholder roster via CSV with each unit's share allocation. Results are calculated by both share weight and headcount. You can view both weighted and unweighted percentages.
What verification is available for shareholders?
Email and SMS verification are included in flat-rate pricing from $4.99/election and confirm control of a configured contact method. Assisted government-ID verification is priced at $3.00/checked voter and must be arranged in advance. The co-op still owns the shareholder roster and eligibility decision.
Can our managing agent use vote.direct for multiple buildings?
Yes. One account can manage elections for multiple co-op buildings. Each election has its own shareholder roster, ballot, and results.
Is the audit trail sufficient for legal challenges?
vote.direct provides timestamped platform events, verification summaries, participation data, and a SHA-256 hash chain that can reveal later record changes. It does not prove that notices, proxies, inspectors, meetings, or offline records were proper. Ask co-op counsel what the complete record must contain.
